The Fun Begins

As soon as Kev asked the question, the planning began!  In less than two months since we've been engaged we've accomplished some big things!

We've asked almost the whole wedding party to be in our wedding, and help celebrate our day!  Here's how that all went down.

I asked my sister, Amy, to be my maid of honor just a couple weeks after the engagement. I was hosting a Jamberry party at my apartment and wanted to do it before everyone came over.  I had secretly used her silhouette (cutting machine) to make some cute shirts & wine glasses.  I also made a cute little box and put a sign on it for her to open that night. She said yes!

The next day Kevin & I headed San Diego to look at 4 different locations to have our ceremony & reception...but more on that later.  While we were in California I found it perfect timing to ask my cousin Michelle to be my bridesmaid.  I asked her the same way and she was so excited and asked if she could wear the tank top out that night! LOL.

A couple weeks later Kevin & I had decided how we wanted to ask our ring bearer and flower girl...by making build a bears!  We had fun making them and that weekend before family dinner we asked Camden. I think he was a little confused at first, but quickly warmed up. He is now obsessed with his bear "Dancer", we named him Dancer because when Amy told Camden a couple weeks before that we might ask him to be the ring bearer he said no I want to be the dancer!  So we thought it was perfect.  He loves his bear and even sleeps with him sometimes!

Next was the flower girl!  We sent Addyson's bear in the mail and told Jackie when they got the package to open it on skype so we could see her reaction.  They got it a couple days later and did just that.  Addyson was more entertained by the confetti I had put in the package than the actual bear.  She's so funny to try and talk to on skype, but after a few minutes she gave us her answer and said "Yes, I'll be you're flower girl". A couple days later we found out that she does actually love Daisy, and so does someone else...

Then it was on to the best man.  The night we got engaged we skyped with Kev's brother, and Kevin had told him that he got a cigar to celebrate.  Later that week Kenny had texted Kev that ever since we skyped that he wanted a cigar, then we got the idea!  We sent this to Kenny...

It says "Please Enjoy While You Celebrate Being My Best Man" We rolled it in the case for the cigar but when Kenny got it he didn't open the cigar so he didn't see it. So we called him to Skype and told him to open it, he was excited and even did an "air trumpet" (which Bernie said means he's super excited)! haha.

We still have one more person to ask...so there will be more to come!

Like I said earlier we went to San Diego my birthday weekend to check out some places, and we absolutely fell in love with one of them.  None of the other ones compared.  We thought about maybe having the wedding in Arizona but could not get over how much we loved the one in San Diego, so we called and double checked the date we wanted was open and got our contract! I looked it over a bunch of times and sent it in this weekend. We are SO excited !

It's called Paradise Point Resort in San Diego, California...

It's right in Mission Bay on it's own little island basically. It's amazing and we couldn't be more excited!

Since it is a destination wedding it will be a little smaller, but we are still planning on having some kind of party or BBQ in Illinois maybe sometime next summer for everyone that can't make it.

Mark your calendars.... May 11th 2013.

Also, be sure to check out our Knot website, we will be updating it regularly with information, pictures, & anything else you might need to help us celebrate our big day!

We've also had Amy take some engagement photos for us already, and I went dress shopping too!  Didn't find "the one" yet but lots of beautiful choices! I feel like we are accomplishing a lot pretty quickly, and then my mom reminded me today that the wedding is exactly 8 months away. Yikes!  I better get going so I can get on pinterest, lol.

PS. We wanted to say thank you to all of our family & friends for all the cards, facebook messages & posts, calls, well wishes, and thoughts/prayers. We are so happy!
